Demanding schedules are often the norm for large scale graphic projects. San Bernardino County with more than 20 of its departments staged a resource fair at Victoria Gardens. The one day event took place on the main street and throughout the Gardens leading up the cultural center.

A Variety of materials and formats were required, from direct printed Sintra, Mesh backdrops and sunshades, to double face vinyl on pole banners. All the completed prints were delivered just in time for the county installers to assemble the event structures the evening preceding the weekday event.

Close coordination between Hector Rosado the B3DigiGrafx Account Executive responsible for the project and the San Bernardino county representatives made for a successful installation. All the materials and prints were done in-house taking advantage of the extensive capabilities of B3DigiGrafx.

Visit our Applications Gallery to stimulate your imagination, or stop by our Rancho Cucamonga facility on Lion street for a tour.
Great design work, when applied by a Pro is an effective promoter for the UC Riverside STEM program. The vehicle wrap is one of the most visible aspects of the marketing campaign promoting the program at area community colleges. B3DigiGrafx sales representative Hector Rosado, and Rolando Rodriguez Installation Specialist worked together to pull off a winner.

This video does a nice job of explaining the Pantone Color matching system we rely on at B3DigiGrafx. Each of our printers has a color chart printed for each material we print. Your color can be matched as closely as the ink system and corps ponding substrate can provide.

When relying on the color as it appears on your monitor make sure your monitor is color calibrated. Here is a nice device recommended by Pantone. Its on sale at Buy.com as shown in this promo video:
On Friday, April 23rd, the valley’s newest, progressive open studios arts and cultural center The Arts at Context will present the exhibition Mapping the Context at 82850 Miles Avenue in old town Indio from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. The exhibition will map the inaugural opening with an introduction to the six artists who will initially inhabit the space: Ronnie Alvarez, Adrien Balogh, Ryan Campbell, Cristopher Cichocki, Kimberly Nichols, Jan O’Connell and Nikki Reisman. The event is free and everyone is invited to attend.

Indio’s historic old town, located on Miles Avenue between Oasis and Smurr Street, is about to experience a renaissance of art and culture, according to Bill Schinsky, executive director for the Coachella Valley Arts Alliance, which is the organization sponsoring Arts at Context.

“This area is ready for an expansion of art and artists,” he said. “Several buildings here already are works of art with murals depicting Indio’s and the Coachella Valley’s agricultural, business and native American history. The adjacent IPAC Theatre is just another indication of a community ready for an artistic resurgence.”

The Arts at Context is a first of its kind for the valley combining professional exhibition galleries for known and up-and-coming artists, offices, meeting and conference rooms, as well as space for working artists’ studios, which are for rent within its 22,000 square foot space. The rear wall of the building facing Indio Boulevard features a mural of the ancient Cahuilla Indians in their land before white settlers.

Schinsky’s vision for the Coachella Valley Arts Alliance new center also encompasses community art projects such as SCRAP Gallery exhibits and art programs for minors formerly at Juvenile Hall in Indio and Murietta.

Here is a very clever use of the material shape and color, mimicking a bandage to send a clear message. The CHW Medical Plaza located at 17051 Casmalia Street in Fontana, CA. is visible from the 210 freeway.

There are many ways to send your message with large format printing. By the nature of its size its sure to get your attention. Most designs use the material for its print quality and suitability for the application. Mesh banner material is widely used for outdoor applications in windy areas. The perforations reduce wind resistance and lift. Mesh also presents a matte finish reducing glare in high light uses.

Another one of my favorite uses for large format printed mesh banner material is the faux store fronts. In this example at Faison Island in Newport Beach CA. a store renovation is masked from the shoppers.

Graphics are often used on construction barriers previewing the new business; however these are usually short term and only come with the new tenant. Shopping areas where store closures caused by the recession may be keep attractive for the remaining businesses with large format printing. Here is an example of effective use of large format print for vacant stores.

Fake businesses are to be used to lessen the impact of the recession on high streets in North Tyneside.

“‘Attractive to shoppers’

Judith Wallace, North Tyneside Council’s deputy mayor said: “The economic climate has forced many businesses to bring down the shutters.

“We need to ensure that the remaining businesses continue to survive and that means ensuring our high streets look attractive to both shoppers and potential business investors.

“This is a simple and cost-effective approach that keeps the retail unit available for potential new uses and in the meantime also contributes to the street scene.” Read the BBC article here:

Modular systems containing graphics with the faux storefronts are available from B3DigiGrafx. These easily assembled systems are widely used for trade show booth construction. They were nicely adapted to presenting store front graphics. The system is assembled with one key wrench for flexible size and reuse.

For the best results adhesive material should be mounted to existing smooth surfaces. Where the background surface is irregular, rigid materials make the best presentation. Outdoor wall murals are directly printed on specially treated ceramic tile sets and installed in the same fashion as standard tiles.

B3Digigrafx moved its operation from Riverside, California in the fall of 2009. The new management team for the RC Quakes also arrived in town in late 2009. The Brett management expressed an interest in working with a local company for their large format print requirements. B3DigiGrafx arrived just in time to fill the bill. We were determined to treat the Quakes project as a “home game” we were determined to win. The management team has moved from Washington State to take up redolence in Rancho Cucamonga, apparently bringing their hometown climate with them. It has rained almost every week since their arrival. We certainly needed the rain but this much must have left questions for the newcomers that we were in the sunshine state.

Stadium graphics require a variety of large print formats, from ridged metal signage, adhesive vinyl wall wraps, and vinyl banner prints, to large acrylic backlit sign panels. Installation is also provided by our in-house staff. A wide array of print equipment will be employed to meet all these needs including B3’s flat bed Tempo Q printer.

“Bobby Brett and his brother, Hall of Fame player George Brett are leading an ownership group that will purchase the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes according to current majority owner Hank Stickney. The Brett brothers have established a solid reputation as owners in minor league baseball. Bobby Brett is a part owner of the Spokane Indians, and George Brett’s part-ownership of the Tri-Cities Dust Devils has been credited for turning that team’s fortune around. Not that Rancho Cucamonga has needed anything in the way of a turnaround; the team has led the California League in attendance for the last several years. “

Let’s welcome the new Quakes families to town on opening day April 8th and it’s OK to notice the B3Digigrafx graphics work while your there.

Mesh vinyl is a material produced with perforations between the embedded reinforcing scrim nylon, brilliant colors and high strength.

Mesh banner material has three important features. Mesh is light weight compared to filled materials of the same tinsel strength. Mesh banners present significantly lower wind resistance in outdoor applications. The irregular surface reduces glare form light sources, especially hot spots from flash photography when used as backdrops. These features make it an ideal print material for a number of applications.

B3Digigrafx prints at 360 DPI on Heavy duty 10 oz. vinyl mesh to ensure deep vibrant colors that stand up for years to extended exterior or interior use.

Mesh banners can be made in extremely large sizes and are therefore suitable as:

Building wraps

Scaffolding banners

Construction site hoardings

Building murals, both interior and exterior

Stage backdrops

Step and Repeat banners

Mesh banner material is used in this example as a construction fence barrier. This clever design messages the project is a new library building. Addition of the printed graphics on construction barriers not only makes the site safe, but a lot more attractive to the public.

Mesh banner material is ideal when considering wind loads. Their light weight and lower wind resistance make them perfectly suited for large building wraps and scaffolding covers. Light transmission is still considerable making window covering permissible.

Wind loading for these structures must be considered by the contractor. Reducing the load by 40% with the use of mesh banner material is significant. Here you find a wind Load calculation for banners Load in lbs. = sail area x (wind speed in knots)² x 0.0431

1000 square feet of banner in a 70 mile wind loads at 16,037.51 pounds. This is the wind load requirement in the southern California.

Facebook has become a place where our customers are engaging members of our staff. Its not surprising that we were running into people we were doing business with, there are over 300 million facebook users. Our facebook page offers us an opportunity for an informal gathering where we can engage and share info.

If we hosted a company picnic for our customers and their families, they would share their common experiences with the group. They may even share photos of the projects they have worked on, along with the surprises encountered. Sharing ideas and experiences in an informal environment is the purpose of our facebook page.

Our B3DigiGrafx page has been set-up to encourage our friends to participate and have some fun with their graphic experiences. The Photos, and Discussions, of course the wall are all available to fans of the page. Our vendors provide us with new materials, our customers provide us with new ideas and interesting challenges. We have an opportunity to share solutions in our community.

So take a look, become a fan, tell your friends, join a discussion. Share your work in the Photo galleries and stimulate new ideas for others. Have some fun and see where it leads us.
